In the 1920 census, the family is living in Bettendorf, Iowa.  Joe and Frances both list their place of birth simply as Bohemia.  The both list each of their parents as from Bohemia as well.  The oldest daughter shows her place of birth as Westphalia, Germany.  That was in 1906, so evidently the family was on the move.

The photo is dated March 18, 1937.
