It's not Irish or nothin'.  It's just a nickname for Dad's shoebox full of 3 x 5 cards that had one trivial fact on each card.  And then there were the cards that cross referenced to other cards because you never knew how a question would be asked.  For example, there would be a card about a gentleman named Frank W. Cyr and there would be a card labeled "School Buses" that told you to see the card about Frank W. Cyr.  A neat system that led to one full shoe box of cards...Jim's Box O'Trivia.

This collecting trivial facts came out of the late 70's when I was in college, Lawrence University to be specific, where I partook in the annual Great Midwest Trivia Contest sponsored by the campus radio station, WLFM.  The students that ran the shindig would collect facts at every movie they saw, whenever they watched television, and so forth.  And I thought that I should do it too.  Hoping that one of mine would eventually match one of theirs.

Lot of hits and misses.  Well, more misses than hits.  But the few hits really made up for it.  I came back to play as an alumni and continued to collect my facts and put them onto the cards.  This continued even after getting married, after my kids were born, and moving around the state for various jobs.

Now it has all been transferred into my web site.  I continue to add trivial facts to it as I discover them.  And hope that now everybody can benefit from my quirky hobby.  Oh, and what is it about school buses and Mr. Frank W. Cyr?  He's the guy that proposed and pushed for the standard yellow color that they're all painted.
